Marine Biologist
Job Description:
Responsible for leading all marine biology and environmental activities at Kandima Maldives under Aquaholics. This includes coral restoration, reef monitoring, guest education programs, sustainability initiatives, and conservation projects in alignment with Kandima’s “Kool & Conscious” brand values.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Marine Biology & Conservation
• Lead and manage coral restoration programs including nursery maintenance, transplantation, and monitoring of coral growth.
• Conduct regular reef health and biodiversity surveys; maintain updated records and reports.
• Develop and execute marine conservation projects in collaboration with local councils, schools, and environmental organizations.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly marine presentations, workshops, and awareness sessions for guests and Krews.
• Provide engaging and informative marine briefings for snorkeling and marine-related excursions.
• Support and strengthen Kandima’s sustainability initiatives through research, reporting, and guest engagement.
• Develop educational materials and visual displays highlighting the resort’s marine ecosystem and ongoing conservation efforts.
• Prepare monthly and annual reports on marine projects, environmental indicators, and coral restoration outcomes.
• Liaise with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other relevant authorities to ensure compliance with national environmental guidelines.
• Participate in “Kandima Earth Events” such as Coral Planting Day, World Ocean Day, and Clean-Up Campaigns.
Guest Interaction & Activities
• Engage guests through interactive marine life talks, kids’ workshops, guided snorkel tours, and educational activities.
• Promote responsible snorkeling and diving practices to ensure marine life protection.
• Offer personalized guest experiences such as coral adoption or private marine excursions.
• Ensure guest safety and satisfaction during all marine-related activities.
Operational & Administrative
• Maintain accurate records of coral nursery inventory, reef monitoring data, and project documentation.
• Prepare proposals and reports for management approval of new marine initiatives.
• Coordinate with Aquaholics for scheduling and inclusion of marine-related excursions in the daily activity plan.
• Support the marketing and PR team with accurate marine content, photos, and updates for social media and promotional materials.
• Follow Aquaholics’ Standard Operating Procedures and safety standards.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the coral nursery, and Aquaholics area.
• Any other task assigned by the Base Leader or Management.
