Job Description:
OBJECTIVE
To assist DOE in planning schedule, implement and manage the resources of the maintenance department to ensure that the resort, its amenities and facilities and equipment are maintained at all times to the highest standards.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist in Schedule, implement and monitor a regular, effective and cost efficient preventative maintenance program covering all resort machinery, equipment, buildings and infrastructure - ensuring that all areas are regularly cleaned, serviced, and maintained.
- Scheduling and delegation of work to maintenance staff ensuring that the maintenance program is strictly adhered to i.e. daily/weekly/monthly checks.
- Respond to maintenance requests from all departments and ensure that work dockets and verbal requests for maintenance are actioned expeditiously ensuring minimal negative impact of the operation or the guest experience.
- Ensure that corrective action is taken immediately for all faulty machinery and equipment. In consultation with the CE ensure that spare parts or professional services are flown in to fix the problem within 12 hours of any fault occurring.
- Follow up on all equipment and machinery sent off the island for servicing/repairs to ensure that it is returned to the island in a timely manner.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all scheduled and breakdown maintenance undertaken on key plant, machinery, vehicles and resort vessels.
- Update, review and schedule works from the Monthly action lists and ensure that projects are scheduled and completed by required times.
- Schedule and maintain a Test & Tag program for all relevant electrical equipment ensuring adequate records are kept at all times.
- Maintain an Approved Chemical Register for the department ensuring use of only approved chemicals.
- Ensure that all chemicals are kept in secure locations with appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) visible and that Personal Protective Equipment is available.
- Assist in implement fire warden and fire prevention measures.
- Ensure all Fire prevention/fighting equipment is in good condition and that comprehensive six monthly inspections/servicing are conducted by the relevant contractor.
- Overseeing the safe storage and use of fuel and flammable liquid material - ensuring staff are training to handle and deal with spillage, leakage and emergency procedures.
- Responsible for the resort recycling program ensuring rubbish is collected.
- Ensuring correct logs are kept for regulated waste and that waste operators return regulated waste logs as required.
- Scheduling of quarterly pest control with designated external contractor, monthly, quarterly and yearly.
- Scheduling of 6 monthly kitchen equipment servicing with designated external contractor
- Compliance with all requirements relating to the maintenance department and grounds department including safe working practices, environmental initiatives, flora and fauna control, chemical storage, Noise, Energy Management and storage, petrochemical handling etc.
- Timely completion of the monthly report.
- Ensuring that weekly check lists are undertaken and that all pumps, wells and associated equipment are cleaned serviced and maintained on a weekly basis.
- Reporting of all environmental and safety related incidents as required by company Policies and Procedures.

- Collation, reporting and analysis of statistical information relating to Maintenance operations and ensuring that all necessary reports to Maintenance Manager / ACE are completed accurately and submitted as required.
- Be aware of and adhere to all Resort procedures for security measures, Fire, Safety, Health and hygiene.
- Walking trail maintenance
- Responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the Maintenance workshop areas ensuring Work Place Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
- In conjunction with the Purchasing Manager source and order parts, materials and equipment as required. Ensure purchases are through contracted suppliers or by supply of 3 quotes for approval of the RGM.
- Assist in cyclone and flooding emergency procedures as required by management.
- Be responsible for the rostering of all Maintenance staff in line with Resort guidelines ensuring that they are fully inducted in all aspects of the department and that all team members have updated Job Descriptions on arrival.
- Schedule and delegate work according to skills levels required for each job ensuring maximum usage of resources.
- Checking of maintenance team members work to ensure high standards are maintained and work completed within agreed time frames.
- Provide ongoing staff training and communication to maintain morale within the department.
- Provide basic orientation of resort facilities and procedures for external contractors with an emphasis on environmental and safety precautions.
- Ensure Contractor Guidelines are issued and signed by all external contractors and that copies of relevant licenses and insurance certificates are obtained.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide training of all staff on all aspects of the departmental operating procedures.
- Provide regular feedback to employees on performance and teamwork.
- Conduct Performance Development Reviews on all staff as appropriate.
- Provide counselling and discipline in line with group Policies & Procedures where necessary.
- Effective management and supervision of staff and morale within the department.
- Keep updated on product knowledge of resort and related activities.
- Resolve guest complaints to the guest’s satisfaction within your level of authority.
- Maintain excellent grooming and hygiene standards in relation to personal grooming and uniform presentation.
- Comply with Resort Safety & Environment policies, initiatives and legislation.
- Abide by all Work Place Health, Safety and Hygiene regulations at all times.
- Abide by the guidelines set out in the Employee Handbook.
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the Superior.
